If you don't know about transparency, you can't understand what is behind it. Water is transparent.
The movement of slippery waves created by colorful creatures. Slipping fishes, slipping on the fluttering image.
The eyes look at the deep and serene abyss hidden under the surface. The eyes are clearly focused on the surface.
The focal point of the surface goes fade to the bottom.
The image of the being reflected on the surface, the wave captures both inside and outside. In the surface where the border has disappeared, existence already exists in the water.
The beings swimming in the water, other beings looking at it. A wave reflected on the surface, world of continuity.
The world in the world.
The world is swaying around beings, and beings sway in that depth. Will you grab the rope to go back in,
Will you let go of the line and get sucked into the dark gravity.
How hesitant and how will you decide when the light disappears and darkness comes to you.
Enters into cold water.
Do not flow into the abyss in the wave, Honestly to break through the shell of a wave like an ice field.
Throw your body upside down toward the surface.
The body of existence feels the depth of transparency, and the identity of ambiguity becomes existence. The face of existence raises and finds the surface again.
The focus of the surface goes to the ceiling and fades.
The image of the being reflected on the surface, the wave captures both outside and inside. In the surface where boundaries have disappeared, existence is already in the sky.
The beings flying in the sky, other beings looking at it.
투명함을 모른다면 투명함 뒤를 알 수 없다. 물은 투명하다.
형형색색의 존재가 만들어낸 미끌거리는 물결의 움직임. 그곳에서 미끄러지는 물고기들, 찰랑거리는 이미지 위에서 미끄러지고 있다.
눈은 표면 아래에 감춰진 깊고 고요한 공간을 살펴본다. 눈의 초점은 또렷하게 표면에 맞춰져 있다.
표면의 초점은 바닥을 찾다가 이내 흐려진다.
그곳에 비친 모습, 물결은 안과 밖을 동시에 담는다. 경계가 사라진 표면 속, 이미 물속에 있다.
물속에서 헤엄치는 존재, 그것을 바라보는 다른 존재. 표면에 비친 물결, 연속의 세계.
세계 속의 세계.
세계는 주위에서 일렁거리고 그 깊이 안에서 흔들린다. 돌아갈 밧줄을 잡고 들어갈 것인가,
줄을 놓고 어둠의 중력에 빨려 들어갈 것인가.
빛이 사라지고 암흑이 감싸오는 순간에 얼마나 주저할까, 어떻게 결심할까.
차가운 물 속으로 들어간다.
물결 속 심연에 흘러 들어 가지 않고,
정직하게 얼음장 같은 물결의 껍질을 깨고 들어가기 위해 표면을 향하여 거꾸로 몸을 던진다.
몸은 투명함 속 깊이를 느끼고 모호함의 정체는 몸이 된다. 고개를 들어 다시 표면을 찾는다.
표면의 초점은 천장을 찾아가다 이내 흐려진다.
그곳에 비친 모습, 물결은 안과 밖을 동시에 담는다. 경계가 사라진 표면 속, 이미 하늘에 있다.
하늘에서 날갯짓하는, 그것을 바라보는 다른 존재.

'Water is Transparent' is a video assemblage of images and text about the various sensations one experiences when processing reality through digital devices. Naturally, this piece results from numerous components: sophisticated lenses, flashlights, shortened shutter speeds, waterproof technology, individualization techniques, 3D tools that capture the movement and texture of water, and, lastly, the subjective input from the artist. Water is a material that yields drastically different effects depending on how it interacts with the camera. The unpredictable behavior of a digital device trying to auto-focus on a transparent object (water) can seem like a recognition problem from a human’s perspective. However, such mechanic language also materializes the frequent obscurities that we encounter in our interaction with digital environments.
'물은 투명하다'는 디지털 기기로 현실을 표현할 때의 감각을 이미지와 텍스트가 혼재한 영상으로 결합한 것이다. 즉 이 영상은 정밀한 렌즈, 플래시 라이트, 빠른 셔터 속도, 물의 재질을 표현하기 위해 고안된 3D 도구, 방수 및 개인화 기술, 그리고 이에 관한 주관적 경험의 혼합체다. 물은 카메라를 어떻게 조작하느냐에 따라 전혀 다른 결과물을 얻을 수 있는 소재다. 기계의 자동 초점이 투명한 물 표면을 인식할 때 발생하는 상황은 인간의 관점에서 인지적 오류에 가까울 지 모르지만, 우리가 디지털 환경에서 마주하는 불투명도(opacity)를 가시화하는 통로이기도 하다.
