Every organism subtly moves with its own independent rhythm
The base material of the video are scenes Gijeong Goo collected at the Seoul Botanic Park, but they underwent a meticulous cycle of various technological processes before becoming the final work. After capturing human-made scenes at the Seoul Botanic Park, he took them into a generative AI environment and multiplied them in an almost leisurely manner. During these processes, minor technological glitches occur, such as an image’s boundaries blending into those of other images, and phenomena that defy physical laws, but Goo embraces these not as flaws to be eliminated, but as the proofs (or noise) of the image having a life of its own.
After generating such artificial videos, Gijeong Goo crops segments from them and processes them via upscaling tools that restore sharpness to the blurry imagery. This production method oscillates between genesis and attrition, and the real and the artificial. Screened in complete darkness, the final video moves as if it were the sole living being in the space, gently urging visitors to question whether this video is actual nature or nature processed through various layers of mediation.
