Exceeded Scenes 5
〈Exceeded Scenes〉 begins with macro photographs of soil, leaves, moss, and traces of microscopic life, which are reconstructed as 3D images to create new landscapes of ecological environments beyond the range of human vision. This version, produced in Jeju, takes its starting point from the region’s material environment, including its vegetation and planted flora.
Within the work, nature does not exist as a fixed form. Real plants are placed alongside digital images, while the landscape of Jeju is reproduced through virtual spaces and the screens within them. One image contains another, and as physical and image-based spaces repeatedly overlap, the landscape extends beyond its physical environment.
This structure reveals nature not as an external entity separate from humans, but as an environment constructed and regulated through human choices and technology. Plants are selected and arranged, elements of nature are reorganized within artificially constructed spaces, and images reproduce them in another form. As real plants, artificially constructed environments, and digitally generated images become intertwined within a single space, nature appears not as an original or fixed form, but as an environment continuously produced through different ecological and technological conditions. Rather than simply preserving nature, the work suggests another way of constructing a contemporary environment in which humans, nature, and technology can coexist.
