The Transparent Rendering Apparatus
<투명성 렌더링 장치>, 2025
The Transparent Rendering Apparatus is a spatial installation that combines living plants and displayed images within a single apparatus. The structure is arranged in the open space of the exhibition venue in a form reminiscent of a courtyard, with the plants placed inside. Moving around the work, viewers encounter the planted vegetation and its rendered images on the screens from different distances and angles.
The work focuses on the process through which an object is transformed into an image and on the technical conditions that shape that image. The living plants are captured through photography as images and data, then transformed into different forms through rendering. The images are subsequently output back into the space through a material apparatus. A single object appears as different images and material forms as it passes through optical and technological processes of transformation.
〈투명성 렌더링 장치〉는 실제 식물과 디스플레이된 이미지를 하나의 장치로 결합한 공간 설치작품이다. 구조물은 전시장의 열린 공간에 중정을 연상시키는 형태로 배치되며, 식물은 구조물 안쪽에 놓인다. 관객은 작품 주변을 이동하며 식재된 식물과 화면을 통해 재현된 상을 서로 다른 거리와 각도에서 마주한다.
작업은 하나의 대상이 이미지로 전환되는 과정과 이미지를 형성하는 기술적 조건에 주목한다. 실제 식물은 촬영을 통해 이미지와 데이터로 수집되며, 렌더링을 거쳐 다른 형태로 변환된다. 이후 이미지는 물질적 장치를 매개로 공간에 다시 출력된다. 하나의 대상은 광학적·기술적 전환 과정을 거치며 서로 다른 이미지와 물질적 형태로 나타난다.
